Convenient Virtual Stamps For Letter and Packages

by Publisher

Virtual Stamps via Smartphones

Virtual Stamps Are Here!

Denmark is currently considering new technology to send mail in which there will be no need for a stamp!  This new technology could be rolled out in a matter of just a few weeks and is intended to augment the old fashioned “lick-‘em”, “stick-‘em” stamps.  Sweden is also looking at a similar process to create these virtual stamps for letter and small packages.

This is the way in which it will work:  if you want to mail a physical letter, you would text a number designated by the post office.  You will get a reply text back with a code number which you would simply transcribe on the envelope and then you can mail the letter in the normal way.

At the moment, the code you receive has to be utilized within seven days and it is also valid for mailing letters within Denmark.

What Will It Cost?

So how do you pay for this virtual stamp?  Well it appears that the Danish post office has partnered with mobile phone providers and the cost of the stamp that you purchase in this manner will actually appear on your phone bill.  The cost of the stamp for a normal size and weight letter is scheduled to be $1.49 which includes the cost of the texts back and forth with post office.

Although expensive, it is convenient if you desperately need to get a letter in the mail and cannot get to a place where stamps are sold.

Aluminum Mailbox – Vertical Aluminum Mailboxes Adds a Touch of Elegance

Aluminum vertical mailboxes are available in a variety of styles and designs.  An aluminum vertical mailbox can dress up the outside of the front entry of your home.

The aluminum vertical style wall mount mailbox is constructed using durable high-quality aluminum and is rust resistant.  Aluminum is highly durable and can withstand normal mailbox abuse.

Many of these vertical wall mount mailboxes incorporate a built in newspaper holder.  These models are one piece and are exempt from the U.S. Postal Service code.  Other accessories include name plates, mailbox lights, and mail chimes to alert the homeowner when their mail is delivered.   An important accessory for any mailbox is a locking mechanism. Mailbox locks help to curtail identity theft, mail theft, and vandalism.

Generally, a vertical mount mailbox is installed next to the front entry of your home.  Installing the vertical wall mount mailboxes may require the use of mounting screws, a drill and anchors.  Vertical wall mount mailboxes are available in styles ranging from Victorian to modern.  Installing a vertical style wall mount mailbox is easy. Most manufacturers provide a step-by-step installation guide for easy mounting.

Another important feature that is easily overlooked is how much sound it generates when the lid closes.  Mailbox lids should not sound like a gun being fired in the house when the flap slams shut!  Many wall mount mailboxes incorporate a mechanism to allow the lid to close softly for quiet operation.  The U.S. Postal Service does not govern wall mount mailboxes, however, you should notify your local mail carrier before installation to ensure proper placement of the mailbox and check for any local codes or regulations governing placement of the box.

Aluminum Locking MailBox

Aluminum Locking Mail Box – For Securing Your Mail

Mail theft is the largest growing type of all thefts.  To help curtail identity mail theft, many homeowners are installing an aluminum locking mailbox to secure their mail and to keep would-be thieves at bay.  A secured aluminum mail box will help to deter most thieves from stealing your mail.

Many mailboxes are available with a built-in locking mechanism.  If your mailbox is not equipped with a lock or some type of secure device, you can purchase one from several online sources.  A lock is essential for deterring mail thieves and extremely important when the homeowner is away for several days and unable to retrieve the mail.   Also note that the U.S. Postal Service will not open locked mailboxes nor will they accept a key for that purpose.

Locks to secure your mail can be installed on various types and styles of mailboxes.  Many aluminum type mailboxes can also withstand typical mailbox abuse from bats, rocks, canned goods and accidental blows from a snowplow.  A snowplow can hit a mailbox and scatter its contents everywhere if the mailbox is not secure.   When installing a lock on an existing mailbox, make sure your mailbox is strong enough to withstand an attack.

Locking mailboxes should be large enough so that if the homeowner is away for several days, it can accommodate the overflow of mail and keep the mail secure.  When searching for a suitable locking mailbox choose one with a heavy duty lock that cannot easily be pried open.  It defeats the purpose of having a lock if someone can easily open it with a screwdriver.

The mailbox should also be constructed of durable material than cannot be damaged or opened with a saw, hammer, knife or any other type of destructive device.  Remember, when selecting a locking mailbox, look for one that has a strong lock, the box should be made of durable type material that will not break under pressure from bat-wielding hooligans or snowplows and has a secure mail slot large enough to accommodate your daily volume of mail.
